Group Demonstrates in Front of Puppy Parlor For Fourth Consecutive Week

Another peaceful demonstration educating the public about the back room of the puppy parlor.  Today the puppy parlor installed "security cameras" at the back door to the back room in the alley.   They were putting up signs that say "Smile you're on camera".  I watched one of the two men dress from the back of a van they were using, putting clothes on from the van, pants down, zippers being pulled up, thank the high heavens I didn't see any more, looked away, what a class act, cigarettes hanging from their mouth....installing these so called "cameras".   They are probably fake, but just how really stupid can you be?  We know we have to hide the back room, so we'll put up cameras????  What a blatant admission of guilt.  I have NEVER seen this on any business anywhere.  Why would you put that on a back door to your business?  This is a business that sells to the public.  The public has a right to know what they are buying.  Why would somebody do this?  Because they don't want you to see what you are buying?  Smile, puppy parlor, you're on camera.

This scummy place uses Oleo Acres as one of the brokers for their puppies. Ask her when she gets her puppies delivered. This is one of the brokers she uses. They were convicted of animal cruelty because of the conditions of the transport.

The hell these poor animals endure is beyond belief. Those who profit from their misery represent the worst of humanity. Do something this weekend that you can be proud of-join the protest.

This website is tainted with foul news articles. How do you have nothing better to report on? A news reporter, even public contributor should remain neutral, but this crud?!? Horrible, you can't argue anything when you are so biased, this article is invalid. Dogs will continue to be force-bred, people will continue to buy them, and poor articles and weak protests such as this will have no impact. Enjoy wasting your time, I am much more upset that patch let this junk go up than this struggling pet store be bombarded by hippies.

Caroline Jacobs - As others mentioned, this article was not written by a reporter. We've actually been very successful with our protests. The Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) was instrumental in banning the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores in the cities of Los Angeles, CA and West Hollywood, CA and Sarasota, FL to name a few. CAPS has worked with Villa Park, IL to pass a ban. Winfield, IL passed a version of our ban. CAPS has shut down puppy mills in the U.S. CAPS also helped file a class action lawsuit against all 5 Happiness Is Pets (HIP) stores in the Chicagoland area, which is winding it's way thru court despite HIP's lame attempts to get the lawsuit thrown out. HIPS sales have dropped significantly since we began protesting. And we've educated numerous potential HIP and Puppy Parlor customers who wound up going to shelters or rescues for their dogs instead of buying a sick and dying puppy mill puppy. Now THAT'S what I call an effective use of our time!!! And as for Puppy Parlor "struggling" - well that's Tammy Coglianese's choice. She chose to sell sick and dying puppy mill puppies. If you choose the behavior, you choose the consequences.

Actually Caroline, this is an individual that submitted this article, not a reporter. Second, we're not hippies, we're people who care about someone, or something other than themselves, might try it sometime. Lastly, these aren't just bred dogs, these are puppy milled dogs. Two dogs in a cage, stacked high, never taken out for a walk, have any human interaction or even remotely treated as an individual of any sort should be treated. I truly pity people who can't see what these creatures of God's go through and stand by doing nothing about it. I also pray these same individuals do not have children that they are teaching such hatred towards people that are doing nothing but trying to make the world a better place. Oh and one other thing, these protests are proven to work. Because of these peaceful demonstrations, Lombard no longer allows the sale of dogs or cats in stores. Many areas around the country are taking this lead and all of God's creatures are starting to be treated more humanely. I truly wish people that think this is a waste of time and condone this type of behavior, could be put in the same situations as the dogs for a week and then come out telling everyone how great it is to be treated so horribly! Doesn't take a genius to figure any of this out.

I also find it very funny Caroline, your only post on any Patch article has to do with this. Makes me think you are involved in the Puppy Parlor. God bless you if you are, God doesn't like any of his creatures being mistreated.

The name of the woman who owns the Puppy Parlor is Tammy Coglianese.

If you google that name an article comes up about a woman with the same name being arrested for theft awhile ago. From what I've researched on the internet I believe it is the same woman who owns the Puppy Parlor.

Google also has articles stating that the owner of the Puppy Parlor, Tammy Coglianese, has been suspended from all privileges for life from the American Kennel Club.

And as far as the Puppy Parlor being "a struggling pet store", as referred to in the above post...... If you google Tammy Coglianese...articles say that she lives in OAKBROOK.

The conditions at the Puppy Parlor are inhumane. Protests are effective as they give the people who are educated on the subjects of puppy mills, authorities to contact, animal rights, etc. the opportunity to share their knowledge with others.
In this case, these people are making people aware of the poor treatment of animals at the Puppy Parlor.
In turn, others can contact the correct authorities, take actions to try and get laws changed, make others aware of the situation at hand, etc. This is how people can make a difference and end this kind of abuse... town by town, ordinance by ordinance. As people and societies evolve...so does the way they treat their animals. Animals rights have improved over the past decades with the help of people taking a stand and making a difference.

George P, the Mayor and the trustees have all the information they need to pass an ordinance to ban the sales of dogs and cats in pet stores in Lisle. Ida McCarthy and I met with them. We also worked with Villa Park and they passed one just like it. Winfield passed a version of it. Lisle can too. Contact the Mayor and your council members and ask that they pass the ordinance. Then the Puppy Parlor will go away.

Caroline I don't argue on public forums. It's childish. I state facts and what you choose to do with those facts are your business. If you want to support cruelty, abuse, neglect and fraud so be it. If you think stacking dogs in cages in the back room of a store is ok, never seeing the daylight, never going for a walk, etc......you just showed the public what kind of person you are. No need to converse with you. Actually it was Villa Park who worked with us on passing an ordinance. They are the first city to go humane, and that is just the beginning.

First city in Illinois, sorry, there are approximately 30 cities in the United States that have gone humane so far, Los Angeles being the biggest, in November 2012. I have reports from 6 kill shelters in Illinois, just 6 of them, there are probably hundreds in Illinois. The total number of dogs put down in 2011 from just SIX kill shelters is over 10,000. Do we need pet stores selling dogs? Pet stores sell dogs to anyone with a visa card and most of them end up in the shelter.

Yes, the poor pet store. Making a profit off the misery of animals and lying to consumers about where the dogs come from and the quality of the breeding. They buy the puppy mill puppies from some filthy hell hole for $200 and then sell them to an unsuspecting consumers for $2000 while contributing to pet overpopulation. Then, we, the taxpayer, get to pick up what is currently a $2 billion a year cost of rounding up, housing, killing and disposing of over 2 million excess pets a year so these ethically challenged people can "make a profit" at our expense! We recycle our garbage but these sweet innocent animals get thrown in a land fill on a whim. My only concern about this questionable business is how can we stop them from inflicting suffering on the animals and our neighbors.

Donna Louise - you can contact the Mayor and the Trustees and ask them to pass the ordinance to ban the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores in Lisle. They have all the info they need to do it, we even supplied them with a copy of the ordinance Villa Park passed recently. They can do it. There's nothing legally preventing from doing it. Let them hear from you. Tks!

Stop puppy mills! Join us on Saturday 1-19 to educate the public where this store gets their puppies. We will be there from 1:00 - 3:00. Every week, maybe we'll change the time or day, but every week till this place is GONE!

If you would like to read about the horrific conditions inside Puppy Parlor and their cruel treatment of their dogs and puppies, here's the investigation recently conducted by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. See page 4:

Ok, that's it. I'm furious. What's going on here? Among the many things the puppies were suffering from was malnutrition. Malnutrition is definitely something that could be considered gross incompetence of the pet shop owner. The owner of the pet shop should be disciplined for this according to the Illinois Animal Welfare Act. Why isn't she? The Department of Agriculture is acting corruptly. They are not following the rules of the Illinois Animal Welfare Act. They are not even following their own rules. It's black and white. Puppies are dying, they're sick, they're malnourished. What is going on...someone please tell me, please.

You are correct Juliana Bonet. Unfortunately this is what we've been dealing with. Sadly, Puppy Parlor has a back room (the back room pic is in the article, link above) that no one but the owner Tammy Coglianese and her employees are allowed into. That's where the neglect, abuse and cruelty occurs. Hidden from everyone. The Dept of Ag is no help - you can see from their report how awful their findings were. Yet Puppy Parlor is still in business, albeit a reduced business due to our protesting them every weekend. We interact with many of their potential customers, educate them and provide them with rescue/shelter info to adopt rather than spend $1000 on a puppy mill puppy from Puppy Parlor. They are always shocked and angry when we show them the proof and they realize they've been lied to. But we tell them they're the lucky ones; they didn't spend thousands of dollars to buy a sick and dying puppy mill puppy from Puppy Parlor. AND they didn't fork out thousands in veterinary bills to treat all the problems puppy mill puppies have, which many die from. These educated individuals will now educate everyone THEY know.

That's the best we can do. For now. But we're working on it.

Pls join us at our next Puppy Parlor protest Sunday 2/24 from 12-2pm. We have signs, all we need is you. Tks for your support!
