DGS Boost-Hers Raise $4,000 to Fight Women's Cancers

More than 800 spectators, many wearing pink, attended the third annual Downers Grove South Girls Basketball Shoot For a Cure event Jan. 29 is support of the Kay Yow Cancer fund. The event was sponsored by the DGS Girls Basketball Boost-hers.

Through t-shirt sales, gift basket raffles and generous contributions, $4,000 was donated to the fund, which fights women's cancers. Prior to the event, custom pink t-shirts were sold during school and at the home games. Donations came in from many local businesses to help offset the costs of the t-shirts and to create 18  gift baskets, valued at over $400 each, that were raffled after the varsity game.
