When the Downtown Downers Grove Summer Nights Classic Car Show opens its season this Friday, May 18, it will feel familiar for anyone who's come to expect the streets to be filled with classic cars on Friday nights.
Now in its 20th year, the car show is almost down to a science save for a few tweaks here and there. One of those tweaks this year is a different musical act playing every Friday, which, according to Executive Director of the Downers Grove Downtown Management Corporation Linda Kunze, is something the show has never had before.
Another new wrinkle will be some additional parking restrictions along the Main Street Depot. The inside island of the station will be reserved for passenger pickup, while the outside of the island will be reserved for buses. Classic cars that may have parked there in the past will now have to park curbside. Appropriate signage will be on display.
Additionally, auto dealerships and primary sponsors Pugi and Zeigler will be displaying some of their cars on various dates in the U.S. Bank driveway. Pugi will be on hand June 15, July 13 and August 24, while Zeigler will show off its cars on June 8, July 6 and July 27. The cars on display from the dealerships will fit the theme of that day.
