"Omega Was Closed by Choice at this Point," Owner Says
Omega restaurant has been closed since Tuesday after its water was shut off for non-payment
The scene outside of Omega restaurant this afternoon was the same as it was the day before: empty and dreary with a feeling that something just isn't right about the Ogden Avenue staple being closed.
A new sign on the front door from the Downers Grove Fire Department indicated the fire alarm was out of order, but no news on when the restrauant might be open could be gleaned.
Jim Stavropoulos, the owner of Omega, said today if he wanted to reopen today, he could, and that "Omega was closed by choice at this point".
We will have more information about the issues surrounding Omega tomorrow as we continue to talk to Stavropoulos, so consider signing up for our email newsletter to make sure you don't miss any of the news.

We were loyal customers for many years. Great place for dinner, lunch or breakfast. Over the years the quality changed and things were not the same, less quality food and servers that were no attentive to customers needs. Sorry to see a great place stumble. Haven't been there recently and hope that all will go well. Sad time for Downers Grove.

You want to talk about quality, this Leonard Senicka runs a quality auto repair shop on Ogden and Fairview. We got rid of our old beater so we use the dealership for maintenance now, but A-Len has always done it's job at a reasonable price.

This restaurant may have been good in its hay day but when my family and I went to try it out a couple of years ago since it seemed eveyone in DG recommended it what a huge disappointment. The placed smelled old and dirty and the food was horrible along with the service.

Been going there since the 1960's, continued going there as they grew through two additions and several remodels. The service was the best, exceptionally clean, good food in generous amounts, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Very sad it has come to this. I hope they can turn this around. Meanwhile, I thank them for the many years of dependable friendly service.

I was there early last week, and I knew something wasn't quite right. The service was horrible, and it didn't seem clean. The portions and food were good, but I could tell they were having issues. I had decided to not ever return there, but sad to see that it is closed.

Over the years I have had my issues with Omega. Probably the main one is that every time I sat at the counter someone was mopping the floor under my feet. Eventually, I pretty much stopped going there for that reason. Overall, I thought the food was plentiful and good. The soup was always excellent and the waitresses were outstanding.

Daily Herald Business Ledger 07/09/2012, Omega claimed Chapter 11. If you miss it that much, just sit back & wait for it to re-open under another name. I know I won't give them any of my business.

Just before the shutdown they ran a groupon type of deal, $15 for $30 worth of dining online for 5 days only.
They sent a link after purchase to forward to 3 others, and if they bought into it yours was free.
I didn't fall for that one, but I wonder how many did.

The statement made above that says Chris boutsikakis wrote is a complete lie . He never wrote a word about omega rest. He knows the scum bag that wrote it . I guess some people have nothing better to do. Omega is a great place and Chris has nothing bad to say about it or the owners
