Patch Picks: Take a Peek at Unique Boutiques

Looking for something that's one-of-a-kind? Patch has you covered.

Sometimes, buying something mass-produced is okay. Like plain white undershirts, for instance. Or tube socks.

But other times, you’re looking for something uniquely tailored to you and your tastes—a gift that really stands out.  Special occasions call for something special. In times like these, you don’t need a discount warehouse—you need a boutique.

Luckily, Downers Grove has quite a few of those available for your shopping needs and pleasures. Here’s five you might want to check out:

Consider It Done, 5133 Main St., Downers Grove, 630-964-7194
Consider It Done offers a wide variety of merchandise, but it all has a recurring theme of whimsy. Along with the items for sale, the store also puts together custom gift baskets.

Avec Panache, 1010 Curtiss St., Downers Grove, 630-963-1010
Avec Panache features distinctive glassware, dishes, invitations, candles and home decor for any of life's celebrations.

Jolie Boutique, 937 Curtiss St., Downers Grove, 630-968-3746
You'll find designer clothing, perfumes and handbags at Jolie Boutique, but you won't find cookie-cutter fashions lacking in personal style.

Style Studio, 1015 Curtiss St., Downers Grove, 630-852-1304
This eclectic boutique carries an assortment of home furnishings and decor, as well as trendy women's clothing, shoes and more.

Gabby's Gifts, 1008 Curtiss St., Downers Grove, 630-515-1435
Gabby's offers a diverse section of unique gift items, including glass figurines, perfumes, bath and body products, jewelry, journals and even gourmet baking mixes, coffees and teas.

As far as supporting the local downtown businesses. One store I will no longer support is the Style Studio. Owner is unfriendly, and when I tried to get help on a $60 pair of earings t I purchased for my wife this Christmas I was treated rudly on the phone and was hung up on. Essentially the Owner maureen isn't interested in helping her repeat customers and understanding what it means to "the cost of doing busines" All my wife was asking for was a replacement earing for the one she lost right after she received the gift. We would of paid full price for the one had the sales associatte or even owner Maureen stepped up to help in the store where no other customers were present. The Sales Associatte just walked away. When I inquired on the phone, I was treated rudely and was hung up on. I can go elsewhere for the same products. Maureen needs to take a lesson from her neighbor the owner of Consider it Done. She extreml;y family, customer friendly and will go out of her way to assist every time we walk in there. Bitter and Jaded seems Maureen and the Style Studio.

Wow David, Sorry you had this kind of experience. I've been shopping at Style Studio for years. I have Many items in my home and closet from this shop. I have not had a bad experience and have made returns and purchases, many of them handled by Maureen. I have had good customer service from her each time. I suspect there is more to the story than is written. Good Luck with your new shopping,, I will be contiuing to shop at Style Studio.
