Matthew Conness, 19, of the 1800 block of Grant Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. on the 4400 block of Lee Avenue, Downers Grove police said. He continued to move around even after the officer said he told him to stop. Conness stopped when the officer drew a firearm, according to the report. The officer told him to get out of the car and said he saw a backpack and a small black bag at Conness’ feet. The officer said he searched the other two passengers and didn’t find any contraband. Inside Conness’ backpack, the officer said he found a metal grinder with “leafy green remnants,” a small glass jar with a “green leafy substance,” a multicolored glass pipe with black residue and a nearly empty bottle of rum.
