Stan Mikita to Appear at Anderson's Bookshop

Chicago Blackhawks legend to sign copies of his new book.

A very special event is lined up for Blackhawks fans at Anderson’s Bookshop, Downers Grove, in October. On Thursday, October 6, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. they will get a chance to meet former Chicago Blackhawks star Stan Mikita, when he comes to celebrate his new book, Forever a Blackhawk, written with Blackhawks team historian and longtime journalist, Bob Verdi. This event takes place at Anderson’s Bookshop, 5112 Main St. in downtown Downers Grove.

The name Stan Mikita is synonymous with greatness when it comes to hockey in Chicago and throughout the NHL. As one of the most charismatic and electrifying athletes of his or any era, Mikita thrilled fans with his unique combination of speed, skill and toughness. Along the way, he became known as one of the finest centers in hockey history and is still widely regarded to be the best at his position of the 1960s.

Mikita now has his electrifying career highlighted in the new book Forever a Blackhawk, where he traces his life and career from his days as a youngster in Czechoslovakia and then Canada to his current role as a Blackhawks ambassador. Throughout the book, beautiful photos reflect on Mikita's greatest moments and achievements, including:

About the Authors:

Stan Mikita is one of the greatest centers in the history of hockey. During his illustrious 22-year Chicago Blackhawks career, he set franchise records for games played, assists, and points, and led the 1960-61 squad to the Stanley Cup. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.

Bob Verdi is the Chicago Blackhawks' team historian and has covered sports for five decades, including more than 40 years as a columnist and contributor for the Chicago Tribune.
