Now in its ninth year, the Bonfield Express 5K Run/Walk is a Downers Grove tradition. Held each Thanksgiving morning, the race treks through the beautiful downtown and side streets of this western suburb. The true charm of this race is that it attracts a wide range of participants from competitive runners to area residents who run or walk the course to share time with friends and loved ones. Funds generated through the race provide scholarships to area high school seniors who exhibit character in their community. To date, more than $185,000 has been distributed to 90 seniors in six area high schools.
