Get Your Skate On In Downers Grove This Winter

From mid-December through the last Sunday in February, the Downers Grove Park District maintains outdoor ice skating at three locations.

If you're looking to lace up your skates and hit the ice this winter, check out the spots available in Downers Grove.

From mid-December through the last Sunday in February, the Downers Grove Park District maintains outdoor ice skating at Prince Pond (Franklin Street and Linscott Avenue) and Hummer Park 4833 Fairview Ave.), and new this year at McCollum Park (6801 S. Main St.).

However, officials said several days of subzero temperatures and an 8-inch ice base are needed for ice to become safe for skating.

Ice conditions are updated daily on the Park District's web site and ice rink hotline at (630) 963-0575.

Ice Condition Flags:
• Green Flag: Safe to skate (at your own risk)
• Red Flag: No skating (unsafe ice conditions)

Officials urge individuals to check the flags before going on the ice.
