ASK PETER: Poison Prevention During the Holiday Season

Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from Bonny Chen in Hinsdale who asked about poison control center funding. Roskam recently coauthored legislation that funds poison centers so they can continue to offer vital resources to the community and save millions in health care costs.

“The Illinois Poison Center is particularly active this time of year during the holidays when different decorations and other things are out that children and others may get into that they shouldn’t. The reason that the poison control center is so important and such a good investment is that every dollar that is spent saves $13 at the other end. …It’s a tremendous investment in saving lives and saving money.”
