Downers Grove Area Newcomer's Club Holds Annual Breakfast With Santa
The Downers Grove Area Newcomers Club held its annual Breakfast With Santa on December 7, 2013 at St. Andrew’s Church in Downers Grove. Like in the years before, the event was a hit!
The morning involved plenty of food, drinks, crafts, and Christmas videos. Children were able to create ornaments and decorate individual felt Christmas trees while their parents enjoyed bagels, fresh fruit, and coffee. “It was a great event. I’m so happy the kids and parents had fun and I was very glad to be a part of it,” stated Maryann Lazzeri, the organizer of the event.
Of course, the culminating event was Santa’s arrival! Santa loved interacting with the children and everyone had plenty of time to take family photos. As to be expected, some of the children were not particularly Santa-friendly, but that did not stop him from being all smiles and listening to each child’s Christmas wish list. “With 30 families at the event, and at least 60 children, Santa never got tired or slowed down,” explained Newcomer’s Vice President Celeste Vineski, “we are very grateful for his help each year.”
