Downers Grove Student Receives Good Luck Rally Before Trip to National Spelling Bee Finals

ComEd hosted a pep rally yesterday for three local students who will represent DuPage, Will and suburban Cook counties at the National Spelling Bee Finals in Washington, D.C.  The students participated in a mock spelling bee competition as ComEd employees and elected officials from their hometowns wished the students good luck at the national competition, starting next week.

One of the students attends school in Downers Grove.  Nafisa Asad, the DuPage County spelling bee champion, is an eighth-grader at Herrick Middle School in Downers Gove. Asad lives in Oak Brook with her family.

This was the seventh consecutive year ComEd sponsored the DuPage County, Will County and suburban Cook County spelling bee champions. ComEd is covering all expenses for the three regional winners and their families to attend the Scripps National Spelling Bee Finals in Washington, D.C., from May 27 – 29.
