SEASPAR / St. Francis Xavier Bowling Day - Bringing Joy to the Season
SEASPAR’s adult participants were treated to a special day of bowling with 6th graders from St. Francis Xavier school in LaGrange. The event, held at the Suburbanite Bowl in Westmont, was attended by 85 SEASPAR participants and 60 students from St. Francis Xavier. Bowling Day was part of St. Francis Xavier’s Service Day, in which all students at the school take part in service for the day. The sixth grade students have the theme of “Ability Awareness.” The students had the chance to interact with people they may otherwise not have been exposed to, and the SEASPAR participants had the opportunity to bowl and meet some new people, making for a beneficial event for all involved. The event has been running for four consecutive years. SEASPAR was awarded with the Agency Excellence Award through the ITRS (Illinois Therapeutic Recreation Section) because of the relationship they have built with St. Francis Xavier.
SEASPAR provides year-round recreation services for individuals with disabilities and is an extension of the park districts of Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Lisle, Westmont, and Woodridge, and the villages of Brookfield, Indian Head Park and Western Springs.
