Two Way Street Coffee House Welcomes Acoustic Quartet Birdy

Two Way Street Coffee House welcomes Chicago-based acoustic quartet, BIRDY, for a special concert on Friday March 28, 2014, 8:15 pm. $7. Two Way Street Coffee House is located at 1047 Curtiss Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515. More information at www.twowaystreet.org  or 630-969-9720.   BIRDY is a Chicago-based acoustic group featuring outstanding vocals and harmony, creative musical arrangements, finely penned originals by Sharon Speziale, and impressive covers. Their most recent cd Magic Days covers all of this and more.   “The acoustic foursome BIRDY fills the nest with an abundance of harmonies and organic instrumentation throughout its latest long player, Magic Days. The band more than lives up to its "fringe folk" tagline, thanks to a series of earthy, slightly quirky originals, alongside inventive rearrangements of the tried and true "Wayfaring Stranger" and "You Are My Sunshine." Andy Argyrakis, Illinois Entertainer Magazine-February 2013   With an eclectic repertoire that draws from both traditional and contemporary influences, BIRDY has established itself on the Chicago music scene and beyond. The BIRDY idea was literally 'sparked' in the '90's while Bianca Bevard and Sharon Speziale were singing around a bonfire at a camping weekend. Instantly recognizing a soaring harmony blend, the two began performing together regularly. In-demand percussionist Meg Thomas, who brings a wonderful driving and creative dimension to BIRDY's established sound, joined the group in 2007. Veteran Chicago-area musician Roy McNaughton joined the group in 2011, with bass lines that are both artistically fluid and warmly down to earth, and ethereal mandolin chops that twinkle. www.BirdyTunes.com
