Downers Pet-Food Pantry's Odd Problem: Not Enough Aid Requests

The pantry's founder says she may have to cease operations if they can't find more people (and pets) in need.

A Downers Grove pet-food pantry is facing possible closure, but not for lack of donations—in fact, the exact opposite, as the pantry is in dire need of people to receive their aid, ChicagoNow reports

According to the site, Wet Nose Pet Food Pantry is looking to increase the number of families in its temporary pet-food assistance program, which aims to prevent families in a rough financial patch from having to surrender their pets; while founder Kate Quinn thinks there are still plenty of families in need, they are not connecting to the pantry in sufficient numbers,

“We are only getting a handful of families when we are open for distribution dates,” the blog quotes Quinn writing on the organization’s Facebook page.

“If we don’t have more customers for the pantry, we may need to shut down at the end of the year. I’ve reached out the community to help get the word out, but I’m not seeing an increase in applicants.”

More information on how to apply for WNPFP aid is available at their official website.
