Three to Six Inches of Snow Expected Monday; Winter Weather Advisory Issued

Prepare for hazardous driving conditions Monday as snow is expected to start to fall Monday morning and continue into the evening.

Between three to six inches of snow is expected Monday throughout the Chicago area with the possibility of higher amounts of snow in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for DuPage, Will, Kane, Cook, McHenry, Lake and Kendall counties as well as several other counties throughout northern Illinois, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow is expected to develop Monday morning and then taper off by early Monday evening. Snowfall rates of an inch or more per hour are possible at times — especially Monday afternoon, according to the NWS.

This will lead to snow-covered roads and will make travel hazardous across the region. The National Weather Service is encouraging residents to be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility during the course of this winter storm.
