You Heard it, Right?

Storm sirens blare this morning for the first time this season.

In a sure sign of Spring, the village resumed testing its warning sirens at 10 a.m. this morning.

The sirens are tested on the first Tuesday of each month from March through October. They sound whenever the presence of a funnel cloud or tornado is confirmed. They do not transmit an all-clear signal, according to the village website.

"The primary purpose of the sirens is to alert those who are outdoors to seek shelter," the site states. "Those who are inside of buildings normally receive weather information from television and radio broadcasts."
