ColorWorks! A Quilt Celebration

The Faithful Circle Quilters will host the American Quilt Study Group's (AQSG) traveling exhibit, Stars!--A Study of 19th Century Star Quilts at their biennial quilt show which will be held at Jefferson Junior High School in Woodridge, IL Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, 2011.  The exhibit features 25 quilts from the AQSG quilt study project created from actual star quilts made in the 1800's. The quilts will be on display in various locations around the country through August 2012; the Faithful Circle Quilt Show is the only time the exhibit will be in Illinois.

The Faithful Circle Quilters guild is based in Downers Grove, Illinois, and has over 150 members from Chicago's southwestern suburbs. Their 17th biennial quilt show entitled ColorWorks! A Quilt Celebration, will feature over 350 member quilts including their opportunity quilt, Celebration! (Festijn), which won first place in the Group Quilt category at the American Quilter's Society (AQS) Quilt Show & Contest held this spring in Paducha, Kentucky. The AQS Quilt Show & Contest is considered the premier international quilting event. The prize-winning quilt was designed by guild members Connie Brower, owner of The Quilt Basket in Downers Grove, and Jacqueline Jongejan. The quilt measures 93" square and features  jewel-toned New York Beauty blocks and intricate floral appliqué designs on a black background. It was pieced, appliquéd, and assembled by many members of the guild; Mrs. Jongejan did the machine quilting. The quilt will be on display and raffled off at the quilt show.
