District 58 Education Foundation Presents Chicago’s Famed Second City at the Tivoli

Downers Grove, IL – On Friday, April 8, 2011, The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58 will host Chicago’s legendary improv and sketch comedy theatre, The Second City, at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Avenue, beginning at 8:00 p.m. This special performance, entitled “Fair & Unbalanced,” will feature some of the best sketches, songs, and improvised scenes from The Second City’s fifty-year history. The Education Foundation is excited to be hosting The Second City in Downers Grove.

The Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58, Inc. is an independent, 501 (c)(3) non-profit Corporation, established in 2002 to obtain and distribute financial and other resources for the enhancement of education programs at the 13 schools of Downers Grove Grade School District 58. It is the mission of the Foundation to enrich education for District 58 children by providing additional resources outside the scope of the regular district budget. In just the last six months, the Foundation has given grants in excess of $35,000 to schools in the district, most of it to improve technology in the classroom.

The Second City’s “Fair & Unbalanced” takes unbridled comedic pleasure in the foibles of our politicians, celebrities and even our significant others. No institution escapes satirization – from the blowhards of the Beltway to the Hollywood elite. Ripped from the stages of The Second City’s legendary theatres in Chicago and Toronto, “Fair & Unbalanced” is a hilarious ride through present-day America.
