Downers Grove Police: Kids Report Man Filming Them in Whittier Lot

The man left the scene before police arrived; the incident was reported by four kids ages 11 and 12.

Four kids playing on the 500 block of Hill Street in Downers Grove reported being filmed Wednesday with a camera phone by a man in a vehicle, the Downers Grove Police Department said in a release.

According to police, the children, ages 11 and 12, were playing near Whittier School around 11:30 a.m. when a man drove a dark-colored sedan into the school parking lot and began filming them with a camera phone.

He left after several minutes before police arrived at 12:15 p.m., saying nothing, according to reports. The man was described as being in his 30s with brown hair and driving a "newer-model" sedan. Police are investigating the "suspicious incident" and attempting to track down the driver.

The release encouraged people to remind children to be aware of strangers and report concerns to police immediately. Anyone with information should contact the Downers Grove Police Department at (630) 434-5600 or 911.
