Male Stranger Approaches Teen in Downers Grove, Offers Ride: Police

Downers Grove police call the June 8 incident suspicious. Here's what happened.

A 16-year-old was approached Saturday by a man she did not know, Downers Grove police said.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. June 8 in the area of 72nd Street and Fairmount, according to a press release. The girl said she was walking in the area when she was approached by a man driving a teal-colored minivan.  The man drove slowly alongside the girl, and asked if she wanted a ride.

  • Middle Eastern descent
  • 30-35 years
  • Short, dark brown hair
  • Full beard, no mustache

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Downers Grove Police Department at 630-434-5600 or call 911. 

Everyone is asked to remind children to be aware of strangers and report any concerns immediately to police.

Another male stranger-related incident occurred on June 4 near Whittier School. Four kids playing on the 500 block of Hill Street reported being filmed Wednesday with a camera phone by a man in a vehicle.
