Palermo's Closes Downers Grove Location

Palermo's Pizza, 1332 W. 75th St., has permanently closed its Downers Grove location, according to a restaurant manager.

The manager declined to comment on the restaurant's closing, but confirmed that customers were recently notified of the news via email.

Palermo's maintains locations at 16644 S. Oak Park Ave. in Tinley Park, and 15832 S. Wolf Road in Orland Park.

Wingstop Closes in Downers Grove

Wingstop, 2589 Ogden Ave., has permanently closed.

As of earlier this month, a sign was posted on the front door to inform customers of the news.

Wingstop is a national chain, with locations in Aurora, Carol Stream, Chicago, Decatur, Elmwood Park, Evanston, Evergreen Park, Lansing, Naperville, Niles, Northlake, Peoria, Roselle and South Holland.

Westmont Resale Shop 'My Favorite Things' Moves to Downers Grove

My Favorite Things, a resale shop formerly located in Westmont, moved this summer to 136 Ogden Ave. in Downers Grove.

The "upscale resale shop" carries designer clothing and accessories for women, as well as furniture and decorative household furnishings.

The store accepts fall and winter consignments Aug. 1 through Nov. 15, and spring and summer consignments Feb. 1 through May 31. During the consignment period, staff will assess clothing and accessories from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, by appointment only.

Home furnishings are accepted year-round.

My Favorite Things has been in business for 30 years—20 years in Hinsdale and 10 years in Westmont. A second store is located in St. Charles in the Campton Square shopping mall.

The Downers Grove location is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Panera to Open Drive-Thru on Ogden Avenue

Panera Bread, 160 Ogden Ave., was expected to open its drive-thru window this week after several weeks of construction.

The expansion of the Downers Grove Panera is one of 50 planned by the company this year. At the end of 2011, there were 119 locations with drive-thru lanes, according to FastCasual.com.

Panera Bread was established 31 years ago in St. Louis, MO. As of June 2012, the company owns more than 1,500 franchise-operated bakery-cafes in 41 states and in Ontario, Canada.

The restaurant specializes in bakery items, such as breads and pastries, but also carries a wide variety of sandwiches, soups and salads.
