Downers Grove's Lao Sze Chuan Makes Zagat's List of Spiciest Menus

The restaurant, located at 1331 W. Ogden Ave., was recently featured for its spicy selection of authentic Chinese food.

If you haven’t tried the spicy selections at Lao Sze Chuan, you must. There’s a reason the joint on 1331 Ogden Ave. made Zagat’s list of spiciest menus in Chicago.

The Downers Grove restaurant, famous for its selection of spicy, authentic Chinese food, was recently highlighted for its "beautifully spiced, intensely flavored" dishes. Some are so hot, "they'll melt your socks off," according to Zagat.

The food has a Zagat score of 24 out of 30, meaning it's rated as "very good to excellent."

Lao Sze Chuan is owned by restaurateur Tony Hu of Tony Gourmet Group. There are currently three locations, including two in Chicago, with a fourth slated to open in Evanston this summer.

The Downers Grove location opened in 2006 after the restaurant moved from a neighboring town.
