Dominicks’ parent company, Safeway, pulled out of the Chicago market last December closing 72 stores, including the Downers Grove store and the Woodridge location at 2363 63rd St.

Since then, regional grocers like Angelo Caputo’s, Mariano’s, Whole Foods and Pete’s Markets have scrambled to move into the shuttered Dominick’s stores in what has amounted to a fire sale.

Angelo Caputo’s has remained competitive fulfilling a niche market by specializing in fresh produce and Italian specialty foods. The company also launched its own Italian specialty line, La Bella Romana Products.

Today, Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Market is run by the founder’s daughter,  Antonella Caputo Presta, as president, and her husband Robertino Presta, the grocery-chain’s CEO.

The company is currently hiring at its other locations and says it will hold a job fair to fill positions at the Downers Grove Angelo Caputo’s. To apply, download and complete the application and mail it to company’s Carol Stream headquarters.
