Scarletti's Italian Kitchen Closes in Downtown Downers Grove

Husband-and-wife owners shut down business in order to spend more time with their families, the Chicago Tribune reports.

A downtown Downers Grove Italian restaurant shut its doors late last month, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The husband-and-wife owners of Scarletti's Italian Kitchen, 944 Warren Ave., decided to close shop because of the time it took running the restaurant and a desire to instead use that time to spend with their families, the report stated.

Paul Giagnorio and Pam Kellam, who opened Scarletti's in late 2010, announced the closing of the restaurant at the end of June in a written message to customers.

"We felt working together as a team with a common goal would be a wonderful experience … and a great deal of it was just that," the note stated. "However, what we didn't realize was that we would have so little quality time together or with our family. We have missed many flagship family events these past few years and there have been several others that only one of us could attend while the other stayed behind to manage the restaurant."
