Dominick's stores that were not successfully sold to other grocery chains will close on Dec. 28,according to a Chicago Tribune report

Citing a letter that was sent to employees of the grocery store chain, Crain's Chicago Business reports that as of today only four of the Chicago area's 72 Dominick's stores have been sold.

It was announced earlier this month that parent company Safeway was looking to sell all of the chain's locations.

Crain's reports that potential buyers for some of the locations include Jewel and the rapidly expanding Mariano's.
