Midnight Showing of “The Princess Bride” May 30th at Tivoli Theatre

The Tivoli Theatre will host a special midnight showing of “The Princess Bride” on Friday, May 30, 2014. Admission is $5 per person, and tickets are available at the Tivoli box office, 5021 Highland Avenue, Downers Grove, or online at www.classiccinemas.com.  This is a great opportunity to see the enchanting classic film digitally remastered on the big screen!

Directed by Rob Reiner, “The Princess Bride” (PG) is a classic fairy tale about a beautiful princess and the gallant hero who rescues her from an evil villain. The story is told by a kindly grandfather (Peter Falk) to his sick grandson (Fred Savage) as they read the book together.  Much more than a simple tale of true love, the story involves action and  adventure with giants and pirates.

Starring Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin and Robin Wright, the movie was named best fantasy film in 1988 by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, which also recognized the film for best costumes. The “Princess Bride” is included on the American Film Institute’s list of 100 Greatest Movie Love Stories.
