BUDDY, Australian Cattle Dog Mix, for ADOPTION

BUDDY is a 7 year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix seeking a forever home. Typical of the Cattle Dog breed, Buddy is curious, smart, and energetic, but also skeptical of new humans. He looks to a strong ‘alpha’ leader who is patient, positive, reassuring, and gentle.

Buddy is content simply being in the same room with his foster parents. He loves his toys, chews, and especially a soft rug or blanket on which he can lay and sleep. Buddy  takes treats gently after showing off some of his basic commands including sit, stay, and give his paw. He shows his excitement and affection toward his foster parents by excitedly wagging his tail, thumping it endearingly on the floor if laying down.
Buddy is housebroken and well mannered in the home; he neither destroys nor jumps on furniture, nor chews on household items when left at home alone and uncrated. Buddy is walking nicely on his leash but will sometimes bark at strangers and other dogs due to his insecurity; Buddy is currently enrolled in training to help him trust more.

Although Buddy is selective about his dog acquaintances and requires gradual and deliberate introductions into a multiple dog setting, Buddy has enjoyed playing with the neighbor’s Husky; however, he is not yet a candidate for doggy day care. Buddy would be well served in an environment where he gets plenty of exercise.

Buddy is a “work in progress” and would benefit from a knowledgeable dog owner who can continue Buddy’s socialization and training. Because of his uncertainty of new people, he is approved for a calm, adult-only household.

This dog has been neutered, inoculated against diseases, dewormed, tested for Heartworm Disease (negative) and placed on monthly prevetnatives, plus microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available for online completion and submission through our website - www.acaringplacehs.org
