Tip of the week: Skip the Commercial Sports Drinks
Commercial sports drinks aren't as healthy as you may think.
The typical commercial sports drink contains large amounts of high fructose corn syrup, sugar, dyes, artificial flavors, petroleum-based chemicals and additives.
These chemicals certainly are not the most efficient fuel to replace your body's electrolytes and enhance sports performance. In fact, high fructose corn syrup and sugar will cause a spike in blood sugar (giving you that "high"), but that is followed by a crash. This cycle can put undue stress on your body's blood sugar handling system and adrenal glands, making for a poor stress response as you age.
For a natural sports drink that provides optimum, chemical-free fuel to replace electrolytes lost during exercise, see Remedy's 2010 July Newsletter. Decrease the chemical burden on your body by using healthy fuel!
