Metra Bans Laminated Monthly Passes

Lamination prevents conductors from authenticating validity of passes.

In an effort to thwart counterfeiting, Metra will no longer accept monthly passes that have been laminated.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the decision was spurred by the discovery of four phony passes over the last few weeks, all of which were laminated.

Riders who have already laminated passes can obtain replacements, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.
