Safety Town

Safety Town, a children’s safety education class, is being held this week at the village recreation center. A miniature safety town, complete with kid-sized buildings, street signs and sidewalks, provides an environment where children learn pedestrian, passenger and at-home safety. Children ride tricycles to learn safety procedures, view films and interact with school bus and fire department staff. The event is staffed by the Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club, the Downers Grove Park District, the Downers Grove Police Department and teen volunteers. Classes run from 9-10:30 am and 11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
