Another picture perfect day

Looks like a redo of yesterday gorgeous weather, with slightly more heat. The National Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies, a high near 80 degrees and gentle 5 mph breezes from the east southeast. Tonight's forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a low of about 65 degrees.

The Environmental Concerns Commission meets at 7 p.m. at the Public Works Facility, 5101 Walnut Ave. The Green Business Recognition Program is on the agenda. 

Local power restoration continues

 ComEd reports 1,095 Downers Grove customers remained without power as of late yesterday afternoon, according to the village website. "Crews are presently working to restore power to these customers and estimates 90 percent restoration by midnight," the village said in an automated call and email Wednesday. 

Golf Course power outage

The Downers Grove Golf Course was one local establishment still without power on Wednesday, although it remains open for business, according to the Park District website. During the outage, telephone calls will be routed through the Recreation Center and tee times for Friday through Sunday must be booked online

Who wants to be a brewmaster?

The library will host a presentation on homebrewing by Scott Pointon tonight at 7 p.m. He'll discuss the equipment, ingredients, basic processes and resources available to hobbyists. But, alas, no samples.
