Morning Briefing: June 23

GroveFest opens tonight.

1. Milder weather ahead

With the summer solstice behind us, the days already are growing shorter, but at least we have milder weather on tap. Today brings a 50 percent chance of showers, cloudy skies, a high near 70 degrees and westerly breezes with gusts as high as 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service.  But, thank goodness,  no tornadoes!

Given the choice between a broiler summer festival and one that is pleasantly cool, many of us will opt for the latter. The second Rotary GroveFest opens tonight for a ride preview night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with $23 buying a wristband that entitles patrons to ride all evening.
