Pace Fares to Remain Same in 2012

Pace sees increase to operating budget in 2012

Bus fares for Pace riders will remain the same in 2012 with no increases or service cuts expected.

According to Pace officials, the suburban bus agency will have an increase of about 4.8 percent to their operating budget next year, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. Overall, the operating budget for 2012 is expected to around $194.5 million, and the additional money will lead to some routes being expanded.

Pace officials are attributing the positive outlook for 2012 to increases in ridership and regional sales tax revenue.
