Park District Names New Director

William McAdam to replace Dan Cermak in May.

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – The Downers Grove Park District Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of William G. McAdam as the new Executive Director of the Downers Grove Park District. McAdam, a resident of Lemont, IL, is currently the Executive Director of the Oswegoland Park District, a position he has held since 2003. McAdam is expected to start on May 7, 2012.

“Bill McAdam is an experienced professional in parks and recreation with the energy, passion and leadership skills to guide the Park District and build upon the District’s success. I am confident he will become a well-recognized community leader of Downers Grove and we are excited to have Bill fill this important position,” said Bob Gelwicks, Downers Grove Park District Board President.

McAdam has over twenty years of experience in park districts. At Oswegoland Park District he oversaw the tremendous growth of the park district and currently oversees 945 acres across 57 parks including the Fox Bend Golf Course, two aquatic facilities and a museum.  He is an accredited Certified Park & Recreation Executive by the National Recreation and Park Association.

McAdam will be replacing long-time Park District Administrator Dan Cermak who announced his plans to retire on May 31, 2012, after 34 years of service to the Downers Grove Park District.
