Downers Grove Patch posted a request Aug. 9 for more Facebook “likes” to get the site up to a nice round figure: 900.
The Downers Grove Public Library saw the post, and suggested that it would be nice if Downers Grove Facebookers would help the library get 900 likes, also.
So, a friendly competition was launched.

The library started the race with 870; Patch with 854. Both sites missed the mark by the self-proclaimed deadline.
And Patch went about its business serving Downers Grove.

Fast forward to today: Patch's Facebook site got its 914th like.
