Wedding Rings Stolen From Purse

Laptops, sewer caps reported stolen.

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Downers Grove Police Department:

 

Burglary from motor vehicle

Two vehicles parked at Women's Workout World, 2133 63rd Street, were broken into and items were stolen on October 17 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:20 p.m.. Windows were smashed on both cars and items taken from the cars cumulatively were valued at $4,549. The most expensive items taken were three wedding rings that were inside one of the purses stolen. One was an engagement ring that was a gold band with a 1 carat diamond in the center and six baguette diamonds around it as well as having several diamonds embedded in the band. The other wedding ring stolen was one of the victim's grandmother's wedding ring described as being white gold with three green emeralds in the center. The third ring was a gold wedding band. One of the victims stated there was an older model black van with adults and children inside parked near her car and that occupants of the van saw her put her purse on the floor before leaving her car because they were looking right at her when she exited the car. Other items stolen included purses, wallets, credit cards, sunglasses, clothes and other miscellany. However, a $2,000 violin was left undisturbed sitting on the backseat in one of the vehicles.

A Bronze Jupiter YE64L Euphonium musical instrument was stolen from an unlocked car in the 6700 block of Meadowcrest Drive sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. on October 12. The estimated value of the instrument, which was being rented from Bandsource in Downers Grove, is $900.

A 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was broken into in the parking lot of Carlucci Restaurant, 1801 Buttferfield Road, sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 9:18 p.m. on October 18. Stolen from the car, which had its front passenger window broken, was an Apple 13” Silver Macbook Pro laptop, a black iPod, a leather briefcase and day planner. All told, the stolen property was valued at $3,381.

Motorcycle stolen

A 2010 black Yamaha motorcycle valued at $5,000 was stolen from a driveway in the 7600 block of Knottingham Lane sometime between 10 p.m. on October 16 and 8:15 a.m. on October 17.

Drinking in public

Forty-five year-old Paul Fleck, 705 W. Liberty in Wheaton, was charged with Drinking in Public after being caught drinking at Fischel Park on October 18 at 1:35 p.m. by DGPD. Fleck was spotted by an officer near the bandshell with an open bottle of Hornsby's Hard Cider and unopened bottles of Bud Lite and Coors Lite near him. When asked if he had been drinking in the park, according to the police report, Fleck replied “Yep.”

Theft under $500

A garbage can was stolen at some point between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on October 19 on the 1200 block of Blanchard.

A brown sewer cover was reported stolen at the Farmingdale North condos on Blackburn at 1:40 p.m. on October 16.

Criminal damage to vehicle

Officers responded to Omega Restaurant on October 12 around 8 p.m. for a “well being” check and spoke to a witness/victim who stated she was sitting in her brother's car alone when she thought observed a hispanic male push a female as they were walking toward the parking lot. The witness yelled out of the window telling the male to stop and the male yelled something back. The male left in an unknown dark SUV but returned and approached the witnesses vehicle yelling at the witness. The witness yelled back and the male kicked the passenger side door of the car leaving a slight dent before leaving again.
