After Hours Film Society Presents "The Great Beauty" at Tivoli Theatre

The After Hours Film Society will
present “The Great Beauty” [NR], selected as the Best Foreign Language Film by
The Academy at this year’s Oscars presentation, at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021
Highland Avenue in downtown Downers Grove, IL, on Monday, March 10th
at 7:30 PM. The film begins with Jep Gambardella, an aging writer whose best
work was created decades earlier, as he celebrates his 65th birthday
and a shock from his past.  Jeb
looks beyond the nightclubs and parties to find a timeless landscape of
unlikely, exquisite beauty.

Written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, The
Great Beauty earned top honors at the 2014 Academy Awards, and took home the
Oscar for Best Foreign Film.

The After Hours Film Society is a registered
501(c)(3) non-profit cultural organization formed to encourage the appreciation
of cinema, both as an art and as a medium of information and education.  Its mission is to provide the suburban
community with first class foreign, art and independent films that otherwise
would not be offered locally. In partnership with the prestigious, 75-year-old
historic Tivoli Theatre in downtown Downers Grove, the film society meets on
the second and fourth Monday of every month at this beautifully restored,
1,000-seat venue.  The organization,
operated under the tutelage of Executive Director Deborah Venezia, will
celebrate its 25th anniversary later this year.
