Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA) teaches a modified Sun style which does not require the deep bending, twisting, and force of other tai chi styles. This makes it easier and more comfortable to learn. Studies have shown it to be effective not only with Arthritis but with other motion oriented health problems such as fibromyalgia, recovering stroke victims, Parkinsons, and is helpful in preventing falls in seniors. Students should wear clothes that allow them to move comfortably. No uniforms are required.
Tai Chi for Arthritis was developed by Dr. Paul Lam in 1997. It is approved by the Arthritis Foundation of America.
A class in Yang style Tai Chi Chuan is also taught at the Hapkido Academy (1 hour session--4 sessions/$60). Training in Tai Chi Jian (Sword) is also available by contacting the instructor. The instructor is also available for private training and group classes at other sites.
