81st District Candidate Boyle responds to the State of the State Address

81st District candidate Debbie Boyle responds to Wednesday's State of the State address

Released by Friends of Debbie Boyle

Downers Grove, IL – Wednesday’s State of the State address by Governor Quinn was full of the stuff that dreams are made of, but contained very few accurate facts regarding the condition of the state. Debbie Boyle, candidate for State Rep in the 81st district, was surprised by the Governor’s claims that Illinois is ‘moving forward’. “Illinois residents had to sit back and think, ‘Does he live in the same state as the rest of us?’  Families are hurting, businesses are leaving the state, and while 46 states enjoyed a decrease in unemployment over 2011, Illinois’ unemployment rate went up. This is not my idea of ‘moving forward’.

Illinois taxpayers carry the burden of an unfunded pension liability that is projected to grow from $83 billion dollars in 2010 to $144 billion in 2033; we’re on the hook for an $8.5 billion dollar backlog in unpaid bills; and we rank 47th in economic outlook. This does not paint the picture of prosperity and progress that Quinn painted yesterday.

Governor Quinn’s proposal of a tax credit of up to $100 for families with children doesn’t demonstrate real leadership, political courage or a grasp of basic mathematics. “The 81st district is made up of middle-income families that make an average of about $70,000-$80,000 per year. These families are paying between $1000-$2000 more in taxes every year due to the income tax hike approved by Quinn. I will work to make sure this burdensome tax is repealed,” said Boyle.

Deb Boyle is the only conservative candidate who will challenge the ruling class in Springfield, put an end to the duplicitous practices that have allowed our state legislators to operate under one set of rules and standards, while setting different rules for the hard-working businesspeople and families in their districts. “I will be an independent, principled voice in Springfield for the families and small business owners that are being suffocated by undue tax and regulatory burdens,” said Boyle. “I will align the interests of state government with the ‘makers’ in Illinois, the people who work, and create, and produce.”
