Sneak Peek at the September AAUW HOME TOUR

An architectural historian by degree, and historic preservation consultant by trade, Jean Follett is the perfect custodian of her 1949 Harold Zook-designed home. She and husband Doug Thompson have spent the past year updating, restoring, and improving the home and grounds, and are proud to be including their masterpiece in this year’s AAUW Home Tour.

The home is resplendent with massive glass windows, wrought iron banisters, thick beams and the attention to detail for which Zook is famous. His chevron designs and his signature spider web is evident in the stone fireplace as well as the polished hardwood floors. “I think it’s great for people in the community to get a chance to see these remaining  Zook homes,” Jean emphasizes. “They’re unique and interesting.”

The AAUW Home Tour committee couldn’t agree more! Tour-goers can experience this and four other Hinsdale homes on September 29 during the 62nd annual Scholarship Home Tour.  Proceeds from the Tour go toward scholarships for matriculating high school seniors and also to adult women who are completing their educations.  Tickets will be available at the AAUW Hinsdale/OakBrook website: www.hinsdale-area-aauw.com or by calling 630.789.2117.
