Public Works Tapping Team Takes Second Place at Competition

The "Tap-a-Holics" took second place in Springfield on Wednesday.

After practicing daily for over a month, the "Tap-a-Holics" team went down to Springfield on Wednesday to compete for the first time ever at the Illinois Section American Waterworks Association's Watercon 2012 and walked away with second place.

Having never competed before, the DG team lost only to Westmont, who in some ways mentored the DG team when they decided they wanted to compete. The DG team finished with a time of 1:57.62, while Westmont beat them by five seconds, finishing with a time of 1:52.16. Elgin took third place with a time of 2:08.88. A total of seven teams competed.

Additionally, Downers Grove placed 4th in the "Meter Madness" competition, which saw Dave Yelton assemble a water meter in 46.25 seconds. Elgin took first place in the "Meter Madness" competition with a winning time of 24.34 seconds.

The Downers Grove Tapping team consisted of Keith Kenning, John Pfursich, Ed
Lewandowski and Dante Rigg.
