Opal Enterprises Offers A Colorful New Lineup

Recently, tech giant Apple moved away from their tried and true policy of unveiling a single new phone at their annual marquee event. This time, iPhone enthusiasts were treated to a pair of new devices, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. While the 5S stuck to the incremental upgrade strategy, the iPhone 5C is an all new venture for the prolific technology manufacturer.

One of the obvious differences between the iPhone 5C and its predecessors is a lineup of brand new colors. Along with the traditional white, 5C adopters can opt for green, blue, yellow or pink. Apple also made perforated protective cases available in the same selection of colors, as well as black, to allow for a huge array of color combination possibilities.

So, why add the sudden pop of color to a product line that has become so popular in recent years? There are plenty of theories about Apple’s decision, ranging from the company’s intention to appeal to a younger audience, to the practical production realities that make mass producing multiple colors in plastic much easier than doing so with the traditional metal iPhone bodies. But one local Naperville company thinks they understand the decision better than most.

“It’s about choice,” says Tara Dawn, Marketing Manager at Opal Enterprises, Inc. “We’ve seen the same shift in consumer behavior in our industry. Once upon a time the vast majority of home exteriors looked very similar, with white, off-white or some variation of beige siding and a fairly limited selection of trim colors. Now people don’t want the same old look, they want their homes to be distinct. Individualism now extends to every part of our daily lives; our mobiles, cars, and especially our homes!

Tara says that Opal Enterprises has been fielding requests for a wide variety of siding colors in recent years. Homeowners are less interested in blending in with their neighbors and getting more comfortable with standing out!  Opal, like Apple, has had to respond to client demand by providing a wide selection of color options, which includes a variety of colors, textures, option combinations and styles from a number of different manufacturers.

“It goes back to supply and demand,” Tara says. “When we first saw an uptick in requests for more non-traditional colors we immediately started offering an expanding our selection. It’s not enough to be reactionary to changing trends, you have to be proactive about it and I think that’s what Apple is doing with the iPhone 5C, they know that their new device will appeal to people who want color options so they’re giving them choices. It’s the same thing we try to do in all of the products and services that we offer to our homeowners in the Downers Grove area.”

Opal Enterprises is proud to report that customers are responding very well to the diverse color options offered for siding, window and roofing improvement projects! Whether Apple’s new strategy will be successful still remains to be seen. It’s too early to make any real judgments about the future of the iPhone 5C, but what’s not in doubt is that giving consumers more and more options to choose from will continue to be a winning strategy for businesses in every industry.
