Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Hosts Annual Heart Health Fair

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove will host its annual heart fair Saturday, offering free screenings and expert advice from resident cardiologists.

The Big Boomin' Heart Fair—now in its 10th year—will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan, 3815 Highland Ave.

The event will provide free cholesterol, diabetes, asthma and blood pressure screenings along with a Q-and-A session with cardiologists. Hospital staff will provide tours of the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs, and informational vendor exhibits will be set up throughout the morning.

“Knowing your numbers is important in order to detect and decrease the risk of heart attack or stroke,” said Dr. Peter Kerwin, cardiologist on staff at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. “The community can take advantage of these free lectures and the heart fair so they can prevent future heart problems and get appropriate treatment.”
