A new editor takes charge of Downers Grove Patch today — Amanda Luevano, already one of Patch's most successful journalists.
Amanda was one of the first editors to join Patch in 2010, debuting Lemont Patch in September of that year after graduating from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
In that time, she's built one of the most engaged local audiences in the Chicago area. In her first year, Amanda was a finalist for a Chicago Headline Club Peter Lisagor Award for Best Community Website for her work on Lemont Patch.
Education reporting has been a hallmark of her Patch site, and Amanda's coverage of issues in Lemont High School District 210 and Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A have kept the community in touch on key decisions and debates involving policy, tax money, elections and educational needs.
I can think of no one better to bring Downers Grove residents the coverage and civic conversation this community deserves.
Whether she's writing about the village board, , Main Street businesses or the triumphs and tribulations of the folks who call Downers Grove home, be assured that Amanda will deliver a quality experience on Downers Grove Patch.
Prior to joining Patch, she was an intern at the Orange County Register and the Daily Herald in suburban Chicago. At Medill, she worked on the Medill Innocence Project.
