Patch Poll: Football and Thanksgiving

According to Monday's poll, stuffing is king today.

Somehow in our history football has become synonymous with Thanksgiving. And starting at 11:30 a.m. today and going into the night, pigskins will be flying in four games, both pro and college.

  • 11:30 a.m.: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions on FOX,
  • 3 p.m.: Miami Dolphins at Dallas Cowboys on CBS,
  • 7 p.m.: Texas at Texas A&M on ESPN and
  • 7:30 p.m.: San Francisco 49ers at Baltimore Ravens on the NFL Network.

Does all this football interfere with the day's entertaining and eating? What is the rule in your house? Tell us in the poll below.

Make sure you have plenty of stuffing on hand today. Stuffing was overwhelmingly cited as the favorite side dish in Monday's Sixty percent of those who responded to the poll favor stuffing. Mashed potatoes were second with 18 percent; followed by cranberry sauce, 12 percent and green beans, 2 percent. Five percent answered other. Some of the choices were strawberry jelly mold and apple-cranberry relish.

Yes, we do turn on some football periodically throughout the afternoon, but the TV is turned off during the actual dinner. We'll definitely tune in to Packers vs. Lions. Being a Bears fan, here's hoping Detroit finds a way to hand Green Bay its first loss. You Packer fans are really starting to get under my skin (lol!).

Agreed Mike, most Packer fans have never been to Green Bay, because if they had they wouldn't root for them. What a fair weather fan base.

Haha, OK pal, whatever sweeping generalizations make you feel better. They've sold out a stadium since 1960 (all while being by far in the smallest TV market), have had a massive season ticket waiting list that gets passed down from generation to generation, they're the only community owned team in any major sports league, and they constantly draw ~60,000 for a preseason intra squad scrimmage. All of that screams fair weather fans to me. 11-0!

"What do you call a Packer fan with half a brain? Gifted." One of many Packer jokes all in fun.

Those 60,000 that attend the practices show what's wrong with dopey Packer fans. No life. There's nothing in that crap hole of a town except that team. When socialist revenue sharing ends in the NFL, the Packers will go back to being the Siberia of the NFL again.
