According to the report, the caller’s 14-year-old son told police that he woke up to a strange man in his bedroom around 11:34 p.m. He had turned off the lights in his bedroom to go the sleep, Nakos entered his room and tuned the lights on again.

Police said the frightened boy pointed away from his bedroom and ran to the bathroom where he locked himself inside.

A minute later, the boy opened the bathroom door and ran to his mother, who was sitting on the back porch. She then went back inside the apartment where she found Nakos laying on the living room couch, reports said.

The mother started yelling at Nakos that she had called police. She continued yelling at him to leave, but he started approaching her, police said.

She then shuffled to Nakos side and pushed him out the front door, locking the door behind him. The mother described the uninvited guest as a 6-foot-two male white, wearing a black stocking cap and jeans, police said.

The mother also told police that the unwanted man had a Russian or Eastern European accent.

Police went looking for the man, and eventually found Nakos sleeping in a vestibule in the 900 block of Burlington. The report noted that he had a Greek accent.

Nakos allegedly denied that he had been anywhere that evening except for the vestibule. When the officer said he didn’t believe him, Nakos said his girlfriend threw him out earlier.

According to the report, Nakos admitted to having a few drinks and decided that he needed a place to sleep. He didn’t know who the apartment belonged to.

Police said the mother was brought to the scene and immediately identified Nakos as the man inside her apartment. It is believed that he entered the residence through the front door, which was unlocked, the report said.

In addition to the felony criminal trespass charge, Nakos was charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct.

Nakos is currently being held in the DuPage County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bond.
