$600 Laptop, Wallet Taken in Separate Thefts

THURSDAY, JULY 11

Mountain Bike Taken

A $100 men's mountain bike was taken from a driveway on the 1100 block of Carol. The incident occurred between 11 p.m. July 10 and 6 a.m. July 11. The bike was unlocked on the driveway, and there were no leads or suspects.

Wallet, Coins Taken

Someone took a wallet from one car and $10 in coins from another car parked in a driveway on the 5200 block of Williams Street. The incident occurred sometime between 9 p.m. July 9 and noon July 10. The family later learned that a credit card inside the wallet was used at a gas station on the first block of Naperville Road in Westmont. Both cars were unlocked when the incident occurred, according to a police report.


$600 Laptop Taken

Someone took a black $600 HP laptop from a car parked in a lot on the 1100 block of Grove Street. The incident occurred sometime between 4:30 p.m. July 9 and noon July 10. The laptop was on the front passenger seat and the owner said it was probable that he left the vehicle unlocked. He was willing for his vehicle to be processed and also would submit to elimination prints at a later time if needed, according to a police report.

TUESDAY, JULY 9

Man Charged With Retail Theft

Roland Leon Jackson, 20, of the 100 block of Washington Street, Park Forest, was charged with retail theft on the 1500 block of 75th Street. Jackson left the last point of sale without paying for two Wii video games hidden inside his pants by the crotch area, according to a police report. Jackson filled a shopping cart with games, then concealed two of the games inside his pants and went inside the bathroom. After he left, an employee went inside the bathroom and found two empty Wii video game cases hidden inside the baby-changing table. Jackson was detained, handcuffed and transported to the police department. He was released on I-bond with a Aug. 7 court date in Wheaton.
