Armed Robbers Pepper-Spray Radio Shack Employee, Customer

Three men are in custody after brandishing a handgun at employees and fleeing with electronics Wednesday morning.

Three suspects are in custody after a manhunt stemming from an armed robbery at a Radio Shack in Downers Grove Wednesday morning, according to police.

A store employee said two men in hooded sweatshirts flashed a handgun and demanded that the employee open locked cabinets in the store at 7319 Lemont Road. The men pepper-sprayed the employee and another customer before fleeing the store.  A witness outside the store said the men ran to a green Nissan and left the area headed westbound on 75th Street.

Officers located the green Nissan, with three occupants, driving Northbound on I-355. The officers followed the vehicle to the area of Rt. 59 and Ferry Road, where the occupants stopped and ran from the vehicle. After a short foot pursuit, three suspects were taken into custody.
