Candy Bar in Gas Tank, DUI Arrests: Police Blotter

TUESDAY, FEB. 5

DUI

Alberto Cortez-Perez, 46, of the 7300 block of Tennessee in Willowbrook, was arrested around 2:22 a.m. near Main and 63rd streets, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and was cited for improper lane usage and no valid driver's license. He was issued a March 13 court date.

DUI, Drug Possession

Rachel L. Bolt, 22, of the 4500 block of Prince Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 2:22 a.m. near 63rd and Carpenter streets, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis. She was also cited for improper lane usage and failure to signal. She was issued a March 6 court date.

DUI

Bruce J. Bleffer, 55, of the 600 block of Green Valley Drive in Lombard , was arrested around 11:11 p.m. in the 3900 block of Saratoga Drive, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and was issued a Feb. 27 court date.

Property Damage

A homeowner in the 600 block of 58th Street reported that someone shattered the glass on one of her outdoor gas lamps sometime between 8 p.m. on Jan. 30 and noon on Jan. 31, police said. The woman said the lamp has been damaged three times in the past year. The Downers Grove Fire Department also responded to turn off the natural gas coming from the lamp.

FRIDAY, JAN. 18

Candy Bar in Gas Tank

Police were called to the Career Education Corporation, 2655 Warrenville Road, around 9:50 on Jan. 22 for a report of criminal damage to a vehicle, according to reports.

The complainant said a candy bar was put in her gas tank sometime between 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 17 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 18, causing damage to the vehicle's fuel system, police said.

The woman said she noticed candy residue near the fuel filler when she went to put gas in the car. When she took the car to the dealership, she was told candy was found in the gas tank, and that repairs to the fuel system would cost about $550, police said.

The vehicle was parked in the parking lot of the Career Education Corporation when the incident occurred.
